Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Eye Pencils

Bobbi Brown recently launched a line of long-wear eye pencils that are intended to be a pencil form of their famed Gel Liners.  I was a bit sceptical as the gel liners are applied with a brush and are a very high pigmented gel, which I believed to be pretty tricky to recreate in pencil form, but I'm happy to report that the pencils feel and look pretty much exactly as the gel liners, they're just easier and more convenient to apply.

There are six shades available in the range, all of which are kind of like variants of black; so rather than being bright pops of colour, they're instead wearable darks with hints of colour that look natural and in no way over the top.  The shades are:

From top to Bottom: Smoke, Hunter, Jet, Black Plum, Mahogany and Black Navy.  

I was sent Mahogany (S) to try and I purchased Black Plum.  I love both shades and because they're not too 'colourful', I can get away with pairing them with more unusual colour combinations.  For example, even though Mahogany is technically brown, it's natural enough to work with Cool Lilac from the Bobbi Brown Cream Eyeshadow line.  I'm wearing the Black Plum shade a lot as plum shades tend to brighten the blue in my eyes, and this shade is perfect because it's incredibly subtle yet still very effective.

Long-wear wise these are insanely good.  When you apply them you've got a bit of time to blend them in, but within a few minutes they set and do not budge until you're ready to take them off.  They're not difficult to remove either and there's no extra rubbing needed.

One thing that's really excited me about these pencils is that they wear comfortably on the waterline.  I haven't had a chance to try them for a long period of time on the waterline (I only wear pencil liner on the lower waterline on nights out and I haven't had one for quite a while :(....) but I did try them when I was having a play around with them and they don't irritate the eye at all.  I always have to reapply kohl to the lower waterline at least 4-5 times on a night out, so I'm hoping these will put an end to that!

In the above pictures I'm not wearing anything other than the Long-Wear Eye Pencils.  I've applied quite a thick line to ensure the colour came through in the photos, but if you want to see how they look more naturally applied, check out my EOTD here where I used Black Plum.

As is usually the case with any product Bobbi Brown releases, I'm not disappointed with the results achieved with these pencils and I'll definitely be adding more to my collection.  They're easy to use, natural yet highly pigmented and last all day without smudging or wearing.
